Run clubs are having a moment, and after joining one myself, I get it.
Never been to a run club? Think a group of people meeting up for a run or walk together, with plenty of chatting and usually a coffee afterwards.
You definitely don’t have to consider yourself a “runner” to turn up. I like that it gives me a different way to catch up with friends while also getting outside and moving. It doesn’t have to be about running your fastest time or taking it too seriously either. Walk a section, chat most of the way, then grab a coffee or matcha afterwards.
What’s in my run club routine?

Before: SPF, always. If I’m heading out in the morning, INIKA Tinted Natural Sunscreen SPF50 is one of my favourites. I love that it gives me SPF50 protection while also leaving a really nice glowy tint, so I feel a little more put together without actually having to do much.
During: Running, chatting, forgetting we’re meant to be running.
Honestly, this is probably my favourite part. You’re getting the movement in, but it still feels like catching up with friends rather than just ticking off a workout.
After: Coffee first, obviously. If I’m having mine over ice, I’ll mix in Chief Grass-Fed Collagen Protein Powder in Dark Chocolate and turn it into an easy iced mocha-style drink.
My three tips if you’re thinking about trying one
1. Just turn up.
Honestly, getting there is usually the hardest part. Once you’re there, it all feels much easier.
2. Go at your own pace.
Mine is sometimes running, sometimes walking and occasionally talking 75% of the way. There’s no one right way to do it, so find the version that makes you want to come back.
3. Have something to look forward to afterwards.
For me, knowing there’s coffee and a catch-up at the end makes getting out the door significantly easier.
Ready to find your own?
If run club has been sitting somewhere on your “I should try that” list, consider this your sign.
You don’t need to be fast. You don’t need to know anyone. And you definitely don’t need to call yourself a runner.
Just turn up and see how you go.
